New book – The Missing Files of Charlotte Dodd- and a newsletter

I wrote another book.

Actually, it’s a novella – it’s a prequel to The Secret Life of Charlotte Dodd.

The Missing Files of Charlotte Dodd.

It was so fun to write! More action, more spy stuff. More Charlotte Dodd.

This is the first book I’ve released that I haven’t done any promotion for it. I was going to start that today, for a publication date in December, but I decided, no. It’s coming out today!

So here it is!

Before Charlotte Dodd had a secret life…

A novella; prequel to The Secret Life of Charlotte Dodd

Before she lost her memories, Charlotte Dodd still has a secret life, but at least she could remember it. She was an agent for NIIA, happy in her new found love for Hamilton Short, and dealing with usual missions like saving the world from killer viruses (why are they always named after animals, like swine and elephant? Gives the animals a bad rap).

But then her brother bursts into her life with a secret for her. After being told her mother died years ago, Seamus tells Charlotte she is still alive and being held against her will.

No proof or anything. Just a sketchy plan to rescue her.

Of course Charlotte heads off with Seamus, going against the NIIA and Ham to find out what really happened to her mother.

Sometimes missing things are better off not being found.

Let’s put this part in big letters:

What I’m Reading…

assasin's bladeStill caught up in Throne of Glass series!!  This one a series of novellas about Celaena before Throne of Glass. I didn’t love it when I started because Calaena was really a little brat, but she’s started to grow and mature and become much more bearable. I do like reading YA books but sometimes the age and attitudes of the characters are a little too much for me, this non YA person, no matter how good the story may be!! Luckily, Calaena does a bit of growing up, and I’m back into it! Eagerly waiting for the next one!

What I Finished Reading…

heir of fireI had no idea it was going in this direction!!  This one didn’t feel like a YA book to me. It’s like a toned down Games of Thrones or Lord of the Rings, with much less violence and a kick-ass female protagonist!  Loved Celaena after this, which made it difficult when I began Assassin’s Blade. I guess I read them out of order – oops!

What I’ll Read Next…

Still looking to get my hands on the next Throne of Glass novel but while I’m waiting, these came in the mail…

What I’m Writing…

I was off to a slow start for NaNo, but I’ve caught up nicely. The novels I write under my pen name Anna Ellis are shorter than the usual length, so I’m looking to finish this one by next week, giving me time to work on my kids’ book.

I need to give kudos to those participating in NaNo while working full-time. You are amazing! I’m lucky to do this full-time; to work full-time or be in school and come home to work more – your dedication is incredible! Keep it up!

What I’m Watching…

I thought I’d include this today. I finally went to see The Martian last weekend and it did not disappoint! A few minor changes from the book, but nothing to take you away from the story on screen. Matt Damon was amazing, as I suspected he would be. I didn’t go with hubby, so I’ll eventually watch it again with him. I went with my son and a friend, who said how nice it was to watch a movie where no one dies! I guess that’s a spoiler, but if you’ve read the book, you already know what happens. If you haven’t read it, pick up a copy – it’s a really good book!!

I also caught the latest Jame Bond the other night. I was bit disappointed with the villain, but overall the movie delivered everything you’d want from a James Bond movie!

Next up is the Peanuts movie with the kiddies!
